Highway workers getting hurt while on the roadway, from people driving too fast through construction zones is a cause from the snowball effect. People for far too long have been able to drive with their heads up the backsides with their foot buried in the accelerator. Since for many years the media and the police were only concerned about DUI's many of the other laws have been basically ignored, except for when these P.R. stories. This can proven by counting the number of times someone does something you don't like while driving. It is more tha likely a law being broken. And with a little mathematics and going to the DOT web site you can calculate what percentage of times the law was enforced. The best way to stop these highway injuries is to enforce the laws on a greater frequency not just during P.R. periods.

I don't think it's an issue of the laws being enforced. I think it's a situation of to few cops.

People don't seem to understand that cops do more than issue traffic citations. They are also taking calls for service.

The answer is simple, more cops. Everybody wants the laws enforced(except when they are ones with the berries and cherries behind them)but they don't want their taxes to go up.

So in defense of the cops let me ask you this. Did you ever go fishing? Did you ever catch all of the fish?

Yes you are correct that the police have more to do than just patrol highways. But It just shows how immature people are and that they have too be watched to drive like mature responsible adults. And it needs to be done more than just on highway 41. I see people go through town near where i live and they are doing twice the speed limit. 60 in a 30. After they kill or injure someone what do you think will be said.
