Fans can sometimes only hear what they want to. There is no dicussion that Brett is one of the greatest QB of all time. I had many years of fun watching him pull off his majic. But in this case Brett retired for whatever reason. Now he wants to come back as the starter. Many say the Packers need to let him because it is the right thing to do. Did you all forget how he held off intil just before training camp to tell the Packers he was coming back. The Packer have said Rogers is the starter. If they give the starting job back to Farve does not that make the Packers word no longer good. I think if Brett is in the shape he claims and is ready to play at his old level he should take the backup job and then smoke Rogers in practice. The Packers will always play the best player. Rogers can not complain if Brett beats him out. That's the way it works. This whole controversy is due to a conflict between Brett's ego and the desire for Thompson to be the boss.  If Brett was truly serious about coming back why has he not filed the correct paperwork?  The Packers tried to stay quiet but the media and Brett forced the issue.  There can no longer be any winners in this situation as I see it.

Ok, here is a couple of things you didnt think of , or maybe know....The Packers are city owned...that management needs to be talking to US. Secondly, many football greats retired , even took, a season off and decided to come back and they were allowed right back in and not only back but in their original hot seat. Brett has proven himself, in the last 17 years. All Rodgers has proven is ..for not playing..injury prone and always suffering from some kind of illness. The point is, Brett has proven himself, this isnt about being holier than thou, this is about what is right when you are telling your family you want to come home. So I see it as if a family member makes a mistake or really I dont view it as a mistake, if a family makes a hasty decision which is regretted, we are supposed to shun our family? Brett has done nothing but grow within our community and has gone from being a smartass kid with ego to a respectable, honorable man. Dont believe me? View the tapes. We the fans and the organization put pressure on Bretts life. We demanded a decision and the organization put a deadline on it. After that long season, nearly hitting another superbowl, being exhausted I would have said the same as him. So fair weathered some seem to be.

I agree with you Realist.
The story is actually about clashing ego's, domination, power and the desire to be 'right'. Brett thinks he was right in his actions, and the GB organization feels they were right. In the meantime, the fans are subjected to high emotion ~ again ~ and drama ~ again ~ and frankly, I for one have had enough.
Also, it's not fair to Aaron Rogers who has spent the last 3 yrs of his life waiting for his chance. Now that it's here, Brett and his followers seem to feel it's okay to dash 3 yrs of one man's life aside so Brett can make a point. I guess it's okay to do anything just for the sake of 'winning'. Brett made that very clear when he defended his recruitment of Randy Moss to join the Packers. Hmmm...wasn't he the same player who made an obscene gesture, using his butt, to Brett's beloved Packer's fans after one game? I guess I must be a fair weather fan in that I don't enjoy being insulted, and then expected to welcome the insulter with open arms.
It seems that decency, maturity and common sense have no place in this game. It's all about winning, no matter if souls are sold and lost. Yep...that must be what it's like to be a REAL fan.

Mrs. Obvious, you are sadly mistaken. Look up decency, maturity and common sense , then while your at it. Look up sense of humor.
You nor I know what the relationship is between most of those players and because Moss made a gesture with his butt doesnt mean it was directed at Brett, have you had to put up with Packer fans, I hardly believe all of us have been decent, mature or used common sense when it came down to a , what we thought was a bad call, bad play, blah blah blah. This picture is much smaller than you make it.
It's not about clashing egos, domination, and power.....well in one sense it is....but mostly it is about doing what is RIGHT....called humanity. Rodgers is young, he has alot of time and who better to learn from than someone who has been 3 time MVP, took us to the superbowl twice with one superbowl win, a man with so much skill he broke several NFL records, a man who brought us back the ability to bet on the win and not the loss, a man who has proven himself a great teacher. Maybe this is God's way of saying Aaron isnt ready yet.

I also agree with your realist and obvious. There are always two sides to a story and there are a lot of ignorant fans siding with Brett. Yes he has some truth, but look at the facts. Show up at training camp Brett, not to prove yourself, but to be a team player! If you want to play truly as you say you do, show up and earn that starting position back. Football is a team sport. the QB isn't the only one on the field. Stop adding stress to the Packers, Favre and Pack Org., work it out soon. this is not good for Brett, the Pack, or fans.

That is right there are two sides of the story and the one that always hides is the coward. Now seriously, if the organization was so sure their decision was the right one and the best for all why wont they tell us about it? Ignorant fans? You have alot of nerve. The facts are in front of you and you ignore it? Brett has been nothing but a team player, and if your so perfect????? Prove it. Everyone who is human reaches a burn out point and slows down a bit, you are no different never will be different....you been at your job for 17 years?

Is your real name Brett. Face the fact Brett never wanted to come back to Green Bay because like me he is a realist. He knows loike most of us that as he ages he can not play in the cold. Funny how he looks like he wants to play in Minn. They have a dome and Minn plays GB in the warm part of the season.

Um, that is far from realism. Brett is just as shocked that the organization turned on him otherwise he wouldnt be trying to save his position by reaching out to the public. If I had put that many years into a team, I sure as hell would not take a back seat, especially when that seat has been earned by Brett. Let me say this, if Mike Holmgren were here, he would NOT take this and he surely would NOT let it happen. Do you know what a mockery the organization is making of the name Green Bay Packers right now? How easy do you think it will be to walk into a game against ANYONE???? And also, he didnt say Minnesota....the interviewer did. You have to watch that. The media knows how to stir up trouble, just watch channel 26 for all the negative views, they are sure to report that aspect of it.

I stll think he never really wanted to come back to the Packers. Before the Pack made an official comment on the matter Brett's caml had already said he wanted to be released as a free agent. I would like to hear Mike H. comments. I do not think it would be what you exactly like you think. Mike was a man of his word and he would honor the promise to Aaron. Why didn'd he just file the paperwork. He thought like you do that the Pack should be begging him to come back. Sorry we disagree but that how everyone I talk to see it.

I totally agree with you there but the bottom line and the smaller picture of things is that Brett, regardless of any ill intentions, does NOT deserve to be treated like this after all he has done for that organization. know what i mean? It was easy for me to be pissed at first too because I thought he was trading US....but in all reality, we dont have the right to OWN him, and he did after all ask to come back as a Packer. And ultimately, the organization, I really need to know the why as to how they feel this is necessary. All Brett did was ask to come back. As far as Aaron, promise? Again, the organization jumping the gun, giving them more reason to push Brett out the door. Aaron should have known those were tough shoes to fill and that he wouldnt be able to fill them until he retired. Not one well known , talenting athlete that has retired has had this kind of grief. There is an alterior motive or we would be hearing from the organization. They have to know what a huge BLEEP they are making GB look like right now, they dont even care enough about us to make this right? Alot of unanswered questions and the only person who knows the truth is Brett. Bottom line, he didnt do what many others athletes havent done already. They didnt walk away from their organizations with spit hanging from their faces. I wouldnt treat my dog like this. Aaron is YOUNG....he has time. Maybe someone is trying to tell us that Aaron isnt ready yet. And what if in the near future Aaron proves he is injury prone, woops has already....so lets just say he comes in and stumbles, what will you say then?
