Packer Fans - Maybe you can tell me how a fan who cheered for 16 years and loved every minute of it, and professes to be a true fan of the team can just one day decide to turn on one of their own?  I read and have been told to get over Brett's leaving... to move on.  Well... I do not turn my back on a member of my family and I do not turn my back on my team members either.  No one comes into town for two years and takes what was built for all of us over 16 years should be allowed to come in and knock it down for their own gain in my book.  Those that profess to me and others in these Blogs that Brett was spoiled and he deserved what he got and we the fans that stand up for him and remain loyal to the team and him, should move on.   How can those that profess to be true fans of the TEAM turn their backs on a member of Brett's caliber and talk about him the way that they do?  I will remain true to ALL of the TEAM and those that ever played on it.  The new Management team has done nothing to get my devotion to them.  And, I will be so glad when they leave town for what they did to the other fans to make them turn on one of their proven own.

I am a Packers fan. The team is more than one person. A person who chose to leave, twice said he would come back, twice was told yes then finally said no until he realized the team was moving on. Why should the entire team revolve around one person's whims? What happens when he gets tired again this year and pulls the same thing? I am sorry but the world does not revolve around Brett Favre. Or his supporters who only mention his good records and none of the bad. As for the management leaving? Do you think new management would beg Brett to come back?

It is over and done with. Brett is with the Jets. Aaron is with the Packers. That is life. Constantly complaining about it does no good. True Packers fans support the team. I wish Brett good luck with the Jets. Just like I wish Aaron good luck with the Packers.

I am neither a Packer nor Favre fan, so hopefully my view is a objective.

Favre claimed that he was 'forced' into making the announcement by management. True? We do not know. Possible? Yes. Management do that to employees when they find someone who they think will do better. In this case Rodgers. Will he do better? Only time will tell.

I agree that fans should still support the team, but it is perfectly okay for someone to support the team but not management's policies.

A lot of citizens love USA but do not agree with the President's policies. This is what democracy is all about.

Thank You subjective. You seem to be able to be subjective to both views. It is true we do not know what took place and maybe never will know. Like you said only time will tell if the facts will ever come out as to what happened. notblindedbybrett just does not seem to get that a person can support the team without supporting management. And that we can support someone that was with the team at the same time. Since Brett was a big part of this team for 16 years and we were forced to loose him on our team because of those unknown facts I feel it only right to continue to support him and his new team as well. Not blindedbybrett... you asked me four questions. Here is my reply: Should the team be changed over one or two persons AGENDA or WHIMS? You can not say that about Brett without including Management. Brett never got tired and pulled out... heck even injuries never kept him from playing in every game. He has the right to retire if he chooses to ... in his own time. Brett threw some interceptions and so will any quarterback... even Rodgers. I look past them and what they accomplish as a team player. If new management comes in... I would hope they would be better at considering what he could have continued to do for the team and how it might effect the fans, the state, and the city of G. Bay before dumping a 3 x MVP and dividing the fans all across this country.

I would like to add something here concerning the quality of Favre and Rodgers as quarterbacks. Favre has been to Pro Bowls, holds several records, and will make it to the Hall Of Fame. It is too early to blow Rodgers' horn since he has yet to really prove himself as a quarterback. Two games are not a real estimation and neither will be a season. Take Eli Manning, for example. He has won a Superbowl, but is not yet considered and 'elite' quarterback by some. Favre's performance with the Jets is no testimony to his playing ability, and those who truly understand the mechanics of football will agree. To master a new scheme, and be surrounded by a completely unfamiliar support crew is a recipe for disaster. One known fact is that Thompson and McCarthy put him on that path by trading him to the Jets. It bewilders me as why they would do something so mean spirited to someone who had played every game for his team for 16 seasons.

Rodger's talents will not change the principles that lie behind why Favre is now playing for the Jets, be it his own fault or that of management. Only the truth will be able to settle this issue, but as long as there is speculation as to what really happened between management and Favre, there will always be a divide among the fans - those who think Favre was mistreated by management, and those who think that management did the right thing.

As an objective observer, I have seen his dedication by playing through injuries and reporting for work every day. So his dedication to the team is unquestionable. When he did make his retirement announcement's,

Yet again another management hater. I think that you guys should make your own little blog to bash, meanwhile all the true packer fans can make one for themselves.

Packerbacker4 - Your right Favre had the right to retire on his own time so he did. He quit. 16 years or not he quit the packers, therefor they went forward with plans. The team realized there is plenty of life after brett.

"Brett threw some interceptions and so will any quarterback"- Brett has the record for most interceptions. You cant compare his interceptions to anyone in the NFL ever.
Brett HAS 3 Mvp's , the only problem is the last one was 11 years ago. Just like i constantly say in 16 years of Favre we won 1 Superbowl. Thats it.

My reply to cto789 is a question : What does retiring mean to you? Does retiring really mean a person quit the team? If that is how you look at it... then tell me why those that have retired are still honored on the stadium walls? Are they still not a member of the team? Just because they no longer play the game for the team that they lead to victories does not mean they are not still a Packer. Brett will ALWAYS be a PACKER. His name belongs on the wall with those we still hold high on our list of team members. WE respect them for what they accomplished and gave to us as his loyal fans. You are not a loyal fan of Brett's ... that is obvious. A real fan is loyal and he did not quit the team. HE WAS PUSHED OUT by MANAGEMENT! He was only left one option, to do that, so he could still play the game he loves... unfortunately for another team. Plain and simple...because he could no longer work with them and was given no other choice by MANAGEMENT. All going back to them and their own AGENDA for their own claim to fame. What they did was mean. Yes Brett has thrown a lot of interceptions... and it takes risk of them happening to get a good quarterback to take those risks to pull off a win in a lot of games. How many games did you see him take that risk and have it pay off in the end to bring us a win in the game? Many! Some times you win some times you loose but all times it was fun watching him play. All I am saying is he deserved better for all that he gave to the team and his fans. How do you find it so easy to turn your back on Brett after all he gave to you

ct0789, don't you think you are doing the same by bashing Favre? It is a FACT that management saw to it that Favre would never be successful by trading him to the Jets. They made the call to trade him there, not him. Seems ungrateful that they woud do it to someone who has played for this team, and brought it glory, long before they were any part of the organization.

I may not be a Favre fan, but what they did to him was disgraceful. Despicable human beings.

Let's see how many Superbowls Rodgers brings to Greenbay, and whether he will last here 16 years. Even if he does both of the above, that is a pitiful excuse for a human being to treat another the way management have treated Favre. Even as a backup, he was often on the 'injured' bench. This is not Rodgers bashing but a FACT.

As for management bashing blogs - I merely stated a FACT, and for some, a fact is hard to stomach. If blogging a contrary view has no place here, similarly those bashing Favre should start their own little blog to bash as well.

Packerbacker- I agree that he should be on our wall, no doubt about it. He deserves that, he's a first ballot hall of famer. But yes he did quit. He retired, therefor he ended his term of football. When your old and you retire, you quit working your job. I am a loyal fan though, I am a loyal fan of the Green Bay Packers, and Brett Favre is not a member of the Packers. If they think that Aaron Rodgers is better for the team, Ill go with it. Again it was fair. Brett Favre has no right to think that he can just waltz back on to the team after retiring and expect the team to bow down to him. You cant force a grown man to retire either, no way no how, they forced him to make a decision so we arent sitting around in june wondering if he is going to return or not. You cant force grown man to retire, did you see a gun to his head? One that gets me is that we dont even know what happened. Maybe it was management or maybe it was Favre. Also do you know what Tampa Bay offered Favre. We cant get rid of him for nothing. Then back to your last statements PACKERBACKER4---- Brett Favre threw the pick to lose the NFC Championship. Finally I didnt turn my back on Favre, at the end of the day I support the Green Bay Packers, thats the team not Favre

This is a pointless discussion. Those who support Favre will never look at anything that will dispute what they believe is the truth - in fact will go out of their way to make him their martyr. Those who support management will continue to see that it was Favre's prima donna actions that caused this. That management did the right thing since the team consists of more than just a single player.

Let me rephrase what notblindedbyBrett has said since unlike him, I am one who is 'notblindedbymanagement' nor Brett.

This is a pointless discussion since those who support management will never look at anything that will dispute what they believe is the truth - they will in fact, go out of their way to make them the heroes. Those who support Favre will continue to see that it was managements's selfish and bloated egotistical actions that caused this. That Favre was disgraced since management thought more of being vindictive than doing what was best for the team. Time will prove this and then we'll see who has the last laugh. "He who laughs last, laughs best."

Brett's record has nothing to do with this. His actions do. If he had not chosen to retire and change his mind multiple times (stringing the Packers and the Packers fans along) this would not have happened.

Just how many chances do you give this guy? He waffled so many times after his "official" retirement speech until finally saying no. Then he gets upset in June that the team did not call and ask him again? (His own words.) The management basically said enough is enough. It was too late. Now the Jets can play that game with him (he already has hinted at it).

Use any excuses you can come up with (anything that makes you feel good) but the whole thing happened because of Brett himself. Allowing him back would basically have sent a message to the rest of the team (and the league) saying that if you whine and complain enough you can get your own way. To heck with anyone else. To heck with the team. Let Favre call all the shots. Let him be quarterback and management. Let him make all the decisions. In no other business would those actions be tolerated.

You say Favre was disgraced? I agree - Favre was disgraced by his own actions. His stats have nothing to do with it. His actions do. I am one of the many who look beyond the hero worship. One of many who think his actions were a disgrace to the Packers. His legend is now tarnished. One of many who think the management did the right thing.

Hero worship does not factor in here since Favre is not even one of my top 10 quarterbacks. The whole debate is about the way Favre was treated by management, who humiliated him, by trading him to the Jets.

We're dealing with FACTS here. Favre said that he was FORCED into retirement. While those 'notblindedbymanagement' have chosen to believe him, those 'notblindedbybrett' have chosen not to. So here we are . . .with no FACTUAL solution, only assumptions, this debate will go back and forth forever . . . and ever . . and ever.

So those on this side of the fence will laugh at management with every ego bursting loss, and laugh even harder when they are eventually fired.

We all have to realize that arguing about who is right or wrong, is pointless. Fans have made up their minds as to where they stand on this issue.

So the best thing for everyone to do, including myself, is to get on with life. Management doesn't care, and neither does Brett. They have gone on with their lives and so should we.

Right now, there are more pressing issues to be concerned with like the war, the state of the economy, the upcoming Presidential election, etc.

So while it is okay for everyone to express their own beliefs, we should all realize that it may be easier to move a mountain than to change what someone believes in.
