Round one goes to Aaron Rodgers, in the game of "Did the Packers make the right decision".  But are Packers fans convinced?  The ones at Lambeau field were before the game even started, giving the new starting quarterback a standing ovation before he even played a snap.  Very classy from the Lambeau faithful- I was very happy and relieved to see that.

Normally at home games, the Packers introduce the offense, with the defense being introduced on the road.  They switched that up on Monday night, and though they didn't come out and say it, one can assume the Packers were a little concerned about what Rodgers reception was going to be.   Turns out they needn't have worried.

Nor should Packers fans.  Rodgers will be just fine.  Yes, he's going to throw interceptions- every quarterback does.  Yes he's going to overthrow some receivers and *gasp* lose some games.  But he's going to make smart plays and control the ball well.  Will he be better than Brett Favre would have been?  We won't know, but at least now we know how the fans who went to the game feel about him.

I believed. And hoped the REAL fans of the Packers would give him a chance. And it sounds like they did. Very classy of them.

People really shouldn't be surprised. So far, we have yet to see Mr. Rodgers complete a full game since he's been a Packer, but what we have seen has been a very competent QB and a classy, mature person (save his SI comment). His supporting cast is no different than his predecessor, nor the coaching staff. But the Packers schedule is more difficult this year due to their winning season last year.

I think people need to keep in mind, all anyone can do is predict at this point, including football gurus in the media. No one will truly be able to assess where a team is until midway through the season. Until that time, all the teams are 0=W/0=L.

One forum poster made an astute comment that all of Favre's records are longevity ones and doesn't have any single-season record. Perhaps Rodgers may stamp his mark there?

Bottom line is this: Packers fans will show their true colors regardless of how the Packers and Aaron Rodgers play because we know the team represents more than just a game to us; they represent a special character, a little part of each of us, of family, unity, and faithfulness. They are a reminder to us of home and the rich history the people of Green Bay and Wisconsin share. The Packers are a nostalgic throwback to an era when we believed in one another and to all that is good in the world.

Drew,
You are so very right. Brett fans have to remember that he wasn't great right away either. Football players get traded all the time. Nobody makes a big deal about them do they. They need to look back in history. People can always run somebody else's business but they can't let anybody tell them how to run theirs. The Packers will be alright. I wonder how many people will jump back on the bandwagon when Aaron Rodgers makes the eat there words and wins!

Drew, I see this post of yours as getting some fans going again on this issue.
I think it should have been left alone, and let things go on as they may.
In one of your posts, you said you weren't taking sides, well this post of yours sure sounds like you are.
Rodgers may or may not be a good QB, time will tell. What I do find a bit disturbing is how people have turned their backs on Brett after all him and his wife have done. No one really knows all the facts about what has transpired, but some are sure that it was all Bretts doing, if no one except the ones involved know what really transpired between them, then it should be left that they are both at fault and until something solid comes out to prove one or the other is the culprit. Knocking down someone that has done much for the packers, green bay and the franchise is not very classy.

I am going to add here that Drew does work for a station who claims they are "fair and unbiased" I wonder how badly he enjoys his job? Comments from the community does hold somewhat of a bearing on that. I think it truly terrible that someone of Drew's nature would stoop to the level that some of us have under such a horrible experience, but then again , we are all human.
To "end the game...." Thank you for stating what I have been fighting for all along. Being a Packer used to mean something wholesome and the history of not just how the Packers came to be but the love the team and fans shared is something special. I see new management jeopardizing that very legend. After all, it was management that caused the division between the fans.

DREW,

PLEASE DO NOT BECOME AN AMBASSADOR FOR PACKERS MANAGEMENT. WHY SHOULDN'T PACKERS FANS WORRY?
HOW MANY REGULAR SEASON GAMES HAVE YOU SEEN RODGER'S PLAY IN?

Jets QB Favre says arm 'fatigued' at practice
By DENNIS WASZAK Jr., Associated Press

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) - Brett Favre dropped back, looked downfield and launched a long spiral about 5 yards past his intended receiver. A few plays later, the Jets quarterback short-hopped a toss that thumped into the grass. "I felt 38 today," Favre said Wednesday after New York's morning practice. "I'm not going to lie to you."

Favre fired a few duds in his fifth practice since joining the Jets, saying his rocket right arm is a bit tired.

"My arm's kind of dragging a little bit today," Favre said. "It's not really sore, but just fatigued. To be honest with you, I'm surprised that, I don't want to say I feel good, that I've been able to make it through every practice so far."

Favre was acquired from the Green Bay Packers late last Wednesday night, and has been practicing with the Jets since Saturday. He's set to start Saturday's preseason game against the Washington Redskins.

"I didn't throw the ball that well this morning, underthrew some throws," Favre said. "No pain, but I'm 38 years old. It's going to be fatigued a little bit."

Favre said he would talk to coach Eric Mangini about limiting his throws in the afternoon practice. Mangini hadn't spoken to Favre when he met with reporters following the early workout.

"We only have two practices left before the game and we do monitor that stuff," Mangini said. "You guys talked to him more than I did, so I don't really know where he is with that."

Favre had some time to rest his arm Tuesday, wh

Drew,
Check out AOL sports NFL Favre Cries About Fatigue.
I thought he was ready to play football. I still believe the Jets made a mistake they'll never forget. The Packers made the right decision.

I too was happy to see the fan reaction to ARod on Monday night! He had nothing to do with the drama that took place here and I feel he did very well in dealing with it all!

He looked really solid for his first out in the game on Monday! Though I would not have said it a few weeks ago...I think the Pack has as good a chance as any to go deep this year!

Our defense was on FIRE!!! WOW! They really look great!

GO AROD!! GO PACK!!!!!!!!!

It's fine that you support Rodgers as do I, but were do you get the enjoyment of Favre saying he feels 38 and his arm is fatigued??? Favre did alot of good things for GB and everyone should be thankfull for that. This whole thing was not a competition or a war between Favre and Rodgers, I think people need to realize that. Favre just wanted to play ball because he loves the game. I think it would have really tarnished Favre's name if he would have accepted that 20 million to stay retired and do endorsements because then it would have been for the money. This whole thing is settled and people need to move on. Best of luck to Rodgers and Favre in the 08'-09' season.
